Maarten Dobbelaere

Dr Maarten Dobbelaere is a postdoctoral researcher in AI for sustainable chemistry, supported by a personal fellowship from the Research Foundation – Flanders. He obtained his BSc, MSc, and PhD in chemical engineering from Ghent University, Belgium. He is currently a visiting researcher at the Laboratory for Artificial Chemical Intelligence at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and has previously conducted research at the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence at the University of York, UK. His research focuses on developing data-driven and machine learning approaches to accelerate the design, screening, and synthesis of molecules, with an emphasis on sustainability and real-world applicability. In particular, he works on integrating molecular machine learning, reaction engineering, and emerging AI paradigms to enable faster and more informed decision-making in chemical research.
